  1. Detroit Auction House: Season 8, Episode 18

Haven't seen this show in ages. It's a Detroit Tudor house she won in auction.

The painters have this bemused look when she talks about painting the trim cream.

Funny moment is when Nicole says she's staining something "sloppily"... turns out that was in my head, I rewound it to get her exact words and I must have imagined it 😮

  2. Saw an episode tonight that I don't recall ever seeing before.  It was "Homeless" where shop owner Bender finds a homeless man (Don Calfa) camping out in his store. The homeless man appeared on 6 other episodes of Barney Miller as different characters.  Bender's wife comes to bail him out and its the same actress (Mari Gorman) who played Ros, the female detective assigned to the 12th where Wojo walks in on her in the bathroom.  When looking it up, seems she played 3 different characters on the show:

    Mari Gorman:
    - Landmark: Part 3 (1982) ... Naomi Bender

    - Homeless (1981) ... Naomi Bender

    - Evaluation (1978) ... Officer Rosslyn Licori

    - Hostage (1978) ... Officer Rosslyn Licori

    - Wojo's Problem (1978) ... Officer Rosslyn Licori

    - Bugs (1977) ... Roberta Kerlin

    Don Calfa:
    - Homeless (1981) ... Edward Pratken

    - The Vests (1981) ... Arthur Thompson

    - The Desk (1979) ... Gilbert Lesco

    - Identity (1979) ... Calvin J. Kendall

    - Hostage (1978) ... Leon Bidell

    - Copy Cat (1977) ... Angelo Dodi

    - Group Home (1977) ... Mr. DiLucca

Brett Somers was on an episode tonight.  Playing a wife whose husband locked her in the bathroom on election day so she couldn't cancel out his vote.

Ned Glass who played the super/landlord in Julia (with Diahann Carroll), a Aspire favorite, played a janitor in a recent episode who was charged with catching a huge rat.

Brett played the super's wife on one of those rare out of the precinct episodes --- where Fish, Barney, and Wojo are holed up in an empty apartment on a stakeout.

I enjoyed another episode where the designers actually tried to do a good job.  Homeowners seemed cool too.  We need some new rules for the show, though:

    1) You absolutely cannot steal from the rest of the house. Not only is it a dick move to the homeowners that could potentially cost them lots of money, it's also against the spirit of the rules. Cut it out.

They used to do it all the time on the original. That's why people had to mark stuff off limits even when it wasn't in the room.  But with 2K, and the Wayfair/Overstock tent, and their own carpenter, there should be less need.

  5. I was underwhelmed by Sabrina's room.  Did the table have a leaf?  Wasn't overly impressed with the wine holder and pizza paddles. Or the little bits of greenery in the wine holder.

I like Laurie's room. And first thing I think of with Laurie is yellow, then fabrics.  I'd have put that special piece of furniture in another room.  The built-in didn't bother me and I liked the storage being accessible on the side. Definitely more elegant than casual. Move the extra chairs, lose some pillows, and be done with it. The mirrors? Use it as a white board for the kids. Run around? Kids can run outside.  The wall color was a huge improvement.

I'd be so thrilled not to have Hildi that would enough for me :p

  6. just saw this episode on CNBC. Kevin said #BeSomebody guy failed in his 6th appearance on the show. So he's pitched 5 other products/ideas and not gotten deals??

He really came across as a blowhard who doesn't listen and it seems that's who he is:

Quick Google search shows that #BeSomebody app shut down in Jan 2017 due to lack of demand and people using only for experiences rather than learning.

Now, the website is hawking trade school like learning opportunities with promises of easy employment.  Like DeVry?

    Hooboy.

  7. Is Marcus the worst judge of character?  Those people took him for a ride. Again.  And the daughter's resignation speech that she made sure to blindside him with?  Bye girl. Yet Marcus starts making excuses. Is this all for TV?

I don't know what show you guys were watching, but I though Aimee did a great job at the sales pitches.  Her first one at the coffee shop wasn't great but she got better.  And the displays were all beautiful.

I saw her be defensive and argumentative with her first 2 attempts. Not persuasive, but argumentative, as in "you're wrong, you need this" without the why. She got better but I wonder what kind of sales she was in before.

Well, I have to give props to Monica Potter Home - they refunded my purchase like they said they would, and today I received the ointment in the mail with a complimentary lip balm and a hand-written note apologizing for the inconvenience. So ended up getting three products for free counting the wrong one they sent the first time. Can't be mad at that.

Good for you :) Let us know how it works.

they can go from $45 to $12.50 'and a hug.'  Also, the "and a hug" makes me crazy. You can't feed your family on a hug!

The "and a hug" makes me crazy for a different reason. If I was the vendor and a contestant offered me a low ball price offset by a hug, I'd immediately double my price. "A smile" = meh. I agree, can't feed your family on a smile. But a hug? No way. What the holy he-ll. Go hug a tree and get free sap. Excuse me,  I'm gonna go shoo some kids off my lawn and pelt some pigeons with stale bread (tm Sgt Philip K Fish).

I'm watching the marathon today, after only be a sporadic watcher in the past, and it's really standing out to me how much I think the 'befores' are overpriced.  For example, a severely rusted, small meta cart with wheels that don't work is $65!  I can get a new cart of the same size for that price.  I know this is in the northeast (Connecticut?) where prices are higher than here in MN, but that still seems high.  Heck, even $40 wouldn't seem so bad for that.  And this is just one example.

Stormville has the cheapest prices, Brimfield has the highest prices, and Elephant's Trunk is in the middles. You see contestants buying an old dresser (not antique, no famous maker, no dovetails) in OK condition for $5 at Stormville, $80 at Brimfield, and $30 at Elephant's Trunk.  I get that Brimfield is the largest, but that's incentive to go to Stormville to me if I were junk shopping.

I wonder how many of these vendors also run a junk removal service? I know by me, there's one who gets paid handsomely to remove items, only to sell the good stuff and donate the crap. Not bad to get paid twice.

Do you mean the scenes in Barney's apartment? I don't think there's more than a couple of episodes.
I absolutely cannot watch the two episodes in Wojo's apartment with his ex-prostitute girlfriend.
The episode in Fish's apartment is tolerable.

Beverly is busy.  One of my favorite Dietrich scenes.  I also like when Bernice explains how Fish feeds the pigeons.  He pelts them with stale bread.

All in all I prefer the in precinct stories, no need to leave the building.  The one with Brett Somers and the stakeout apartment was good. Barney stopping by Chano's apartment after Chano shoots the bank robbers, makes sense.  Barney and Liz at home? Meh.  Wojo at home? Unnecessary.  Even with Harris and Dietrich lived together, we could visualize it without seeing it.

Oh, I'm pissed. I ordered the Sea Buckthorn Balm for my daughter's eczema. They sent me a facial oil instead, and now I come here and see the Sea Buckthorn Balm is out of stock. So they just sent me whatever the hell they wanted??? I got plenty of emails from them, and none said they were out of stock and was it okay to send a different product. 20 bucks for the balm plus 5 for shipping and handling, and now I've got to deal with trying to get my friggin' money back, grrrr.

ETA: I already got an email from them. They said they will refund my money and will still send me the balm when it becomes available. We'll see...

Let us know when you get it. I did read that it says not to put on broken skin so I guess it's more of a preventative thing. Amazon has a few competitor products, I might try one of those.

  14. I get dry patches of skin that flare up. Started using sugar scrubs because of a pitch I saw on Shark Tank a few years ago (one of Mark Cuban's sons has eczema or psoriasis). Between that, my trusty benedryl, and the hydrochloride spray, I can get any flare up under control in seconds. And the sugar scrub helps keep flare ups at bay. So the sea buck whatever is appealing to me.  Not that I can order any!

Because... they are out of stock of the sea buck whatever. The one thing that differentiates them, and they don't have it. Learned nothing from other companies on The Profit or Shark Tank. What a missed opportunity.

I never heard of Monica Potter the actress. Her name though sounds like a home care brand. Agree with all the comments about Marcus's lame staff and the blah-ing down of the brand, logos, etc.

I thought maybe her outbursts were an act. Guess not. Guess she also is still running/ruining the business.  Run sister run!

  15. A big WTF.

Another company that no longer resembles itself.

Refashioned denim?  Looks like stuff they wore on In Living Color.

Buying stuff from thrift stores?  OK, but if they snap up all the cheap duds, what are the 'poor' folks to wear? $600 jackets?

Made to order jeans now pre-cut and assembled.

Can't really scale the refashioned stuff.

Steve the CPA gets bought out at his original investment and has his loan paid off with no interest? Is that a deal?  Not sure why he couldn't do the books every month, maybe it was a vanity investment? Weird.

The uptight chic with the 1,000 step process. The rigid guy with 1 style of jeans.

I think that might have been Detective Batista, played by June Gable, but I'm not 100% positive. I guess we'll find out when they show her episodes again (3.8 & 3.12 according to IMDb). Linda Lavin had 6 episodes in season 2.

Batista had to climb to check herself in as Levitt would move her name up after she left each evening.

Patti Deutsch was the last seat on the bottom row on Match Game and frequent Tattletales celeb with her husband writer Donald Ross. (plus Laugh In and other shows!)

I am so bummed that Buzzr is now showing infomercials in the mornings, and even into late mornings on the weekends.  I used to have it on while getting ready for work, or just getting up and moving (on the weekends) in the morning.

On the weekends my Buzzr shows a fishing program!

Patti Deutsch left us two days ago at age 73. She never got to be a major star but she always had me in stitches with her unique delivery. I mean, she could have read a phone book and I'd have lost it! And her "Match Game" answers were so offbeat that it was rather unexpected for any contestant to match her!  Check out her contributions on that site that rhymes with Boo Huub and see if one doesn't agree. RIP, Mrs. Ross.

Wasn't a big fan of hers on Match Game but enjoyed her on Tattletales with her husband writer Donald Ross. 73 is too young. RIP fellow red.

    Bethany Layton

Blonde smokey voiced Bethany from Charlotte is baptist and her mom has a friend named Jesus. Her father has been married 5 times, the first time to Bethany's mom. Mom has remarried and is very interested in her daughter's sex life. Bethany is picky - she doesn't like her food to touch on her plate, doesn't like guys who eat loudly, or have spittle on the corners of their mouths. Which ruled out candidate #2. Billy Young, candidate #1 won (I guess) even though he is a Catholic. The horrors. Bethany is also a slob.
