America's Test Kitchen - General Discussion
roughing it replied to David T. Cole's topic in America's Test Kitchen
This was one episode that I actually wrote down the recipes and instructions for - the chicken pot pie and the weeknight pasta bolognese. Still, writing them down is one thing, actually making them is another, since I don't cook much anymore. -
Tournament of Champions - Season 5 Discussion Thread

Sure they don't know who the contestants are, but: Maneet has done well EVERY SINGLE YEAR. So clearly she's likely to be in the final. And despite statements to the contrary, she mostly does cook Indian food. I am too lazy to go back and count, but I would say that it's at least 80% of the time. I am NOT saying she didn't deserve to win. She is a master at the randomizer, and finds ways to use the randomizer items in multiple ways. But I also think that she may get a *bit* of a bump from the judges guessing that it is her, and thinking, the expert is in the house. -
I want more of Troy Iwata and Josh Johnson!!

Okay, thanks. I missed that. Do you remember what day that was? Never mind, I see Js Nana answered. -

There was a scene on Monday's show where Claire is sitting in Harrison's room waiting for him to return from the bathroom so she can read him a bedtime story and a hand holding a cloth reaches out and covers her nose and mouth. -
I actually thought the party was cute, all things considered. I'm not a huge Lala fan, but I don't think she's wrong that this will be a lovely story to tell her child one day.

Yeah Claire was sitting on the bed when Jordan walked up behind her and put a cloth over her face. Then claire just plopped face down on the bed lol! Seriously! Can you imagine being told every day from infancy that your parents didn’t love you and threw you away like yesterday’s trash? -
S22.E10:Top 24 to 20 Top 20 to 14 (2 part)

I like Emmy, but I agree that was beyond weird. It looked like she just finished painting her house. I guess she was going for an authentic coal miner's daughter look (her grandmother as a little girl, maybe), but heck, Loretta Lynn was known for her elaborate and dressy clothes when she was performing on the stage. She'd no doubt be scratching her head at this. -
I thought Lala was living in a nice home. Why couldn’t she host her Who’s Your Daddy? party there? I like the name of her party.

The writing on this show is so mediocre that when that scene caught in my throat, I was shocked. It was a brilliant way to show how mind-frakked Claire must have been. -
Maneet is a great chef period. It may have seemed obvious to us, but the only finale judges that may have had an inkling would have been either Cat Cora or Lorena Garcia. Plus, Maneet didn't always go Indian in her choice of dishes or her opponent decided to try Indian flavors in their dishes to counteract Maneet. I believe Guy when he says that the judges are kept away from knowing who the contestants are until the very end.

When I watch live I tend to wander in and out of the room, so I'm a little confused. Do we know for sure Jordan chloroformed Claire? I mean, if I were Jordan I would just point a gun at Harrison knowing Claire would fall in line. If the writers are trying to establish a long term rivalry with Summer and Claire, it's not working for me. It's one of those things that might make sense on paper but not so much in the execution. -

A lot of us have had that reaction - is there any official site where we can register our displeasure with that? -
You can show up to a wake/memorial in regular clothes (could be going straight to work or from work) if your going to pay your respects and leave, but if your going to stay you can't be in all white.

We know Rosalind as she has actually spoken on the show.

What I found: Topical pain relief ointments such as Bengay and Icy Hot contain ingredients such as menthol and wintergreen, both of which belong to the same family as catmint, which has a similar scent to catnip.

I remember back in the olden days (last Saturday) when baseball was fun. I miss those days.

One is named Rosalind Clifford and the other is named Kathy Downes. But I had to look them up on imdb.com. I honestly don't know if their names have ever been mentioned in the show itself.

Jontay Porter given lifetime ban by NBA. The NBA had to make an example of this stupid, stupid young man. And while it's easy to drop the hammer on a 10-day player, everybody knows this is the line you don't cross in this day and age when gambling is legal.

Someone on another forum suggested a brilliant solution. Ick's Dannielle should join the Davis family as the fourth sister wife.

Agree. Plus, it was him or nobody. Nothing says love like a well-timed beheading.

Good episode. Sucks that Tony and his replacement Syrus went out, but I'm glad Ayanna goes home. As much as I want to root for her, she is just so toxic. Have there been any announced reasons why Tony had to go home? Out of the six star holders, five of them started on Road Rules. You think that would be enough to warrant a revival of the franchise? Eh, probably not. It's okay to still think Rachel is overrated, right? I mean, she didn't have to work that hard for her two wins back in the day. She's probably a great mother, but I still think of her from the mid-2000s, when she herself was toxic.
