  2. I couldn't think of a better title. After watchin the latest, I went back (because I remembered the X-Men) appearing in 1982's Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends (twice), 1994's Spider-Man, and I could have sworn they also appeared in The Fantastic Four, but the one available on Disney+ isn't on there. I know there were two Fantastic Four shows. Anyway. It's so odd, that in the first one, we have Cyclops, Kitty (called Pride), Night Crawler, Colossus, Storm, and some Native American who's a shape shifter. And of course, Professor X. It's weird that in this episode, (and it gave me the heebie jeebies), that Cyc and Kitty had something going, because he held her close in his arms as she cried on his shoulder because she thought Nightcrawler had played a mean joke on her. Of course it was FireStar's ex, Nathan, now Cyberiad, getting revenge on her for turning him into a borg. Then we've got "A Firestar is Born" which tells us the origin of FireStar, and here we have newbies Storm and Wolverine, with an Aussie accent and no attitude, ArchAngel, Cyclops, Jean (but called Marvel Girl), Professor X. And it's the X-Men's five year reunion or something. Spidey isn't allowed to join, but ends up there, because Juggenaut is on his way to beat the crap out the X-Men or something. My mind's a sieve this morning. And THEN, we have Spidey's '94 series, where Peter's mutating, so we've got most of the gang in two episodes. They look weird. Because the animation for that show is so different from the '92 show. They look....like pale versions of themselves. I don't know why I'm thinking they also showed up on The Fantastic Four. I seem to recall Wolverine and The Thing butting heads. Or am I thinking of Hulk and The Thing?
  3. It does come with Peacock for the 1st year, then you have to pay whatever the monthly/annual fee is.
  4. And the B storyline is at all accurate - it's one of the reasons I don't watch those shows. ugh.. I was wondering if I missed something in an earlier episode.
  5. Same. Way to talk yourself out of an excuse. I don't think either the movie or the play had a narration by him - so I think you still have an excuse. That was the sticking point for me too, I'd just gotten to the idea that the narrator in a book doesn't necessarily talk out loud when the buzzer sounded. But I still would have missed it - it's been ages since I read the book, like 40 years or more. And I wasn't even in the double digits when it came out. It was a miserable game for me, I don't even remember if I got any clue. I was, as they say, clueless.
  6. Oops. Right. Gaskets are "blown," but rods can be "thrown" through the hood of a car. ****************** At least yesterday my wrong FJ matched that of a Jeopardy! champ (Lord of the Flies). And I actually got a TS for the first time in a very long time (5G). ****************** Tonight I'll be Tubing the You of "jeopardy full episode today" due to more popular sports with more advertisers vying for prime time slots. But I'm also going to record the Saturday 3 a.m. Jeopardy! to see if it is tonight's; ontvtonight.com doesn't know.
  7. None of these farmers is remotely desirable enough to put up with this new woman BS. Ty in particular becomes grosser and grosser each week. I wish all those women who were threatening to leave actually did. I assume they’re sticking around for social media followers - no way they’re actually interested in marrying one of these fools.
  8. My three problems with The 3 Body Problem. (based on what has been shown so far) An invasion fleet 400 years away is not the biggest problem: the aliens are already here. The AI (Sophons) and cult-helpers have real-time communication with the aliens. They can manufacture metallic headsets with neural interfaces. They can cause mass hallucinations (blinking stars). They can override electronic communications (Times Square billboards, EV vehicles). Why not create a super virus? Create advanced weapons for the cult-helpers to use? Blind all key scientists with countdown images? Launch some nuclear missiles? Don’t expect me to be devastated by the death of a guy with terminal cancer who didn’t want to pursue further treatments - - especially after you expected me to accept that for the sake of humanity there was a need for a boatload of children to be sliced into deli meat. (90% of the people on that boat were likely clueless spouses or children of the zealots.) If you want to brand yourself as a smart sci-fi show, you had better expect a lot of nit-picking: A water filter that doesn’t need cleaning? Nano fiber tech that goes from prototype to industrial use in a few weeks? Cryo-hibernation tech that appears just when they need it? Saul not being smart enough to realize Yen was giving him some type of clue with the "joke". Etc, etc..
  9. Amen, boes! Amen. Happy Good Friday to those of you celebrating (Happy? Celebrating? Are those the right words in this case? Well, you know what I mean). I'm catching up so this will be a review of two episodes and a bit... I liked Holly pointing out how awful it would be to have a party under the portrait of Stefano, and thought something would come of that. Nicole suggested a garden party. Why was that nixed? Too cold? I missed the rest of Wednesday's episode so...yeah. That's all I got there. I was glad it was her relationship with Eric that got Holly to spill the beans. We've heard a lot about their supposed bond but this was the first time we saw it in action, finally. Lordy, Preachy Eric is boring though. It was like we jumped straight back to 2012, with him in the outfit and the vaguely confused look on his face. Can we get back to Photographer Eric ASAP please? Replacement Sloan was pretty good, but not the Sloan I prefer. Why was the original actress suddenly unavailable again? This fill-in briefly popped up weeks ago and then the original came back. And now she's gone again? For a rather important event too? Hmm. How wildly out-of-order do they shoot these scripts? I really thought the callbacks to various events and characters was nicely done. I feel like Sherri must be on top of all that, because not only did we get EJ kinda rubbing it into Marlena's face that he's bedded both Sami and Belle (by asking about them), but we got Steve referencing the horrible Stevano storyline and nods to both John and Eric's priestly eras. It all made the otherwise boring Christening slightly more interesting. And thank GOD Kristen wasn't there to smug it all up. It was pretty thoughtful for them to make sure Brady wouldn't have to deal with her, though Johnny and Chanel being absent made little sense. Did Johnny and Chanel ever get to go to the Horton cabin? I never found out. If so, did they show it? The only thing I can't figure is why they showed Kate having to go on a side quest only to leave her out of the Christening entirely. Again, maybe was that about shooting schedules? Was LK not hired for the day(s) where they shot in the chapel and the livingroom? I wondered if Kate was going to show up at the DiMansion and overhear Holly confessing or something...but nope. She got the beginning of a subplot that went nowhere. Disappointing. Love me some Kate. Too bad she's on recurring. Found it very appropriate that the reception party was awkward and dull. No one on that guest list was going to enjoy standing around that livingroom, and I'm glad the script reflected that. I was worried they'd have everyone acting out of character just to make the celebration "fun", when obviously, Marlena, John, Roman and Steve would not want to be there. What is Melinda's job now anyway? She's not the DA so...private practice? I'm not a lawyer, but if Holly calls Tate, doesn't that mean she's the one violating the restraining order... It's beyond absurd that this overdose storyline took more than three months to resolve. Even once Ari Zucker's lawyer got her back to work as Nicole, they could have wrapped it up within a month. It's been much ado about nothing, really, and hardly an interesting way to build Holly's character. Are we just supposed to think of her as a weak-willed, self-pitying addict? Seriously? That's the first approach you want to take with this character? I hope she has more redeemable/interesting qualities in future stories. I'm not even sure how this take on Holly reflects who Nicole has been as a mother. It feels...arbitrary. Whatever. Let's just move past her drinking/drugging and hopefully past her abusing Tate's kindness (poor guy) and give them both other teens to interact with so they can start fresh. This was a muddled beginning to their adulthood. Impressed that the show sprang for helium-filled balloons though! They're expensive now! LOL EDIT: My bad - this is Holly's second storyline, I guess, if you count her crush on/obsession towards Johnny. I forgot about that. So...that's two uninteresting stories for her so far.
  10. There's more to it than just biological age. Steve spent years fighting in WWII. Nat spent most of her life in the Black Widow program or running around on SHIELD missions. The new team might not be as far behind biologically but they are light years behind in life experience.
  11. I think the chefs were a little confused by this challenge, but some fun dishes came out of it all the same. That pretzel dessert must have been some dish because it's wild that won. Slowly getting to know the chefs! Still love Manny. He's such a cheerleader for the other chefs, and I love that. Michelle too! I like Amanda a lot as well -- maybe it's the (D&D) game recognizing (D&D) game going on there, but to make a palate cleanser interesting is pretty good work. Gail being all "I know we were crapping on the concept, but whoa" was pretty funny. I think Kevin with an accent is cute, but Manny is cuter, so it's okay if la France doesn't viva very long on the show. The dude who made the pave potatoes is clearly a talented chef, but I wish when he was getting all that praise, he'd shared some of the credit with his team for giving him the inspiration and helping hands. The reverence to Miller High Life does make me laugh, but I'm a snob, so don't mind me. My closest encounter was accidentally getting sprayed with some when a friend was attempting to recreate a Miller High Life mimosa he'd had at a brunch spot. That stuff can fizz! I generally know everyone's name by the time they're two episodes in, so it does bug me a bit that I can't place everyone yet. Some of the younger female chefs especially are blurring together for me, and I don't know why. Still, solid challenges so far, but I hope next episode allows them to solo cook, not be teams or in-group head-to-heads.
  12. Couldn’t the person creating the post edit the first message with a link to post live comments, or the post number of the first post after the show ends?
  13. Yeah, but Dollar General doesn't give points that can be exchanged (maybe) for a cruise or a trip to an island resort, places where you can eat all you want while your children at home go hungry but you can't swim until after dark because others on the trip insist on wearing regular swimwear for swimming instead of something that resembles a nun's habit. Jill's in the Plexus business to get luxuries for herself that she would never have on her own. The money she spends on overpriced products to get this stuff makes no sense, but Jill doesn't make much sense anyway.
  14. And aren't fed healthy and nutritious food. Its grease, burnt and cheap pizza.
  15. Yeah, she was definitely fired and I definitely remember the gleeful headlines that she was let go from another Spelling show. So I finally listened to Shannen's interview with Holly. I was disappointed to hear almost no accountability from either of them, as much as I like Shannen. To hear them tell it, they were worker bees and the only ones who cared about the quality of the show. To hear them tell it, they had some bad days but nothing to cause such a huge dilemma that resulted in Shannen's firing. To me, it's a case of either not remembering, or not wanting to admit, even all these years later, that all three of them behaved heinously. As vague as Alyssa has been about her role in all of this, at least she publicly apologized, and said she played a role in the conflict. I heard none of this from either Shannen or Holly. I don't believe that being late to 90210 or being too dedicated to her work on Charmed were Shannen's biggest flaws. Her firings speak to much more than that. And I like her a lot!

    The Dish With Kish

Another enjoyable little diversion! I like the raw footage feel, and I like that Kristin is finding ways to get Stephanie in there. Stephanie's hat makes me laugh. What's notable about Amar's appearance is how comfortable he and Kristin seem to be together. It's interesting to me that this little reality show has grown up enough that the kids are taking over the family business as it were. I've long heard about the camaraderie of the kitchen. It's funny that this day and age has created the camaraderie of the kitchen reality show. I would happily sample everything they made on this episode!
  17. I think that although the pitch FOX probably bought was the Argentine miniseries of cleaning from the beginning the show runner said she was inspired by Filipino foreign domestic workers. In other words Fiona's story. Being set in America her being TNT, first as a visa overstay and now by crashing the border
  18. I mean, whether it's a dish vs a sampler platter seems like a pretty arbitrary distinction to me. And the reason why I say that is because I've seen it referred to as both with those terms used interchangeably. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bandeja_paisa
  19. Apparently my comcast wifi only platinum account (i don’t pay for the appellation) comes with peacock. I just happened to look and did not know. Maybe someone else is equally clueless.
  20. Looks like it might be this: https://shop.pacgourmet.com/products/rice-pearls-for-tempura?variant=43597495959809 A rice cracker but in teeny, tiny bits.
  21. Wow, @Cloud9Shopper, this post seems to indicate you gained a lot of insight and growth from your (Lenten?) break from Reddit. Very inspiring! Now I just need to decide which online addiction I'm going to tank for a while, LOL. NY Times crossword? Wordle? PrimeTimer? Jeopardy!? Google???? Or maybe TV instead of the Web? 🤔
  22. They're still looking for the person who killed the young men in the barrels? I hope they don't drop it.
  23. Twin Peaks aside …. I loved the reaction to the owls. No one will come near their house ever again, nope, but it is fine, she will be fine. The owl also has an extremely human face. Barn owl? i loved that after Harry made his ‘men ask women out’ speech there was a focus on Darcy holding her fork like she was fighting the urge to stab him with it. I find Darcy a relatable mess, Narcissistic parents and all, and I somehow hope she finds something for herself by the end of the show.
  24. I know that their is a lot of hate for Josh Peck lately but I also feel like I hate that Drake Bell could be in as much pain as I could tell that he's in and feel like he could take advantage of someone else and cause that pain to her. I think Josh also feels like when he got married a cause for celebration and joy Drake automatically made it about him that he wasn't invited.
  25. Chief Bromden isn't really mute; he just pretends to be. The narration is an almost stream-of-consciousness thing, as if it's what's going through his mind as events happen. Within the story, he speaks out loud very little. I got FJ, but I'm not surprised that many people didn't. It was certainly on the obscure side.
