  2. If I recall correctly, even the Gizelles of the RH world eventually get taken down by production.
  3. I think it was after she shot Charlotte.
  4. The Shady Sands nuking was more than 200 years after the initial Great War. The explosions Coop saw were during that war.
  5. Bodkin is a 7 episode dark comedy/thriller TV Series streaming on May 9, 2024 on Netflix. Bodkin follows a motley crew of podcasters who set out to investigate the mysterious disappearance, during the annual Samhain (the Irish Night of the Dead) celebration, of three strangers in the quaint, coastal Irish town of Bodkin, in West Cork. Once they start pulling at threads, they discover a story much bigger and weirder than they could have ever imagined, as the investigators try to discern fact from fiction — about the case, about their colleagues, and, most painfully, themselves — the series challenges our perception of truth and exposes the stories we tell ourselves to justify our beliefs or validate our fears. Will Forte as Gilbert Power, the podcaster, Charming, open, and enthusiastic, Gilbert is an American podcaster on the hunt for his next big story. Originally from Chicago, Gilbert’s family emigrated from Cork, and is hoping to discover his Irish roots. Gilbert loves his work, and using his undeniable charm and natural warmth to unearth the truth of a story by gaining people’s trust — and then weaving their memories, recollections and theories into an engaging narrative. While his affect is innocent and charming, it’s clear that there’s much more going on underneath the surface — something he hopes to avoid by coming to Ireland in pursuit of material for his next podcast. Robyn Cara as Emmy Sizerghy, Gilbert’s assistant, bright, funny and eager to please. Emmy is a researcher and has been helping Gilbert organize this podcast to a "T", but underneath her competent exterior, Emmy is clearly gnawed at by insecurities which she tries to hide with enthusiasm and comedy. Pulled between the sharp Dove and laconic Gilbert, Emmy’s is struggling to find her own voice. Siobhán Cullen stars as Dove, the investigative journalist who reluctantly joins forces with Gilbert, Originally from Dublin, Dove is a truth-seeking missile. A hard-nosed investigative journalist with a fine-tuned bullshit detector and a healthy disdain for authority and hypocrisy. People find Dove rude, “difficult.” But she believes she just tells the truth, which makes her completely blind to her own bullshit and hypocrisy. She’s also funny. And brave. And brilliant. She can also be extremely charming and persuasive. Unfortunately, she’s in the middle of the biggest professional crisis of her career — and when you live your life as a lone wolf, your career tends to be all you have. Chris Walley as Sean O’Shea, A local from the village of Bodkin, Sean is a typical Irish country lad — feckless, up for a laugh, and doesn’t seem to be preoccupied with the obligations or responsibilities that usually accompany adulthood. He also is wrapped up in some pretty shady business, and a situation where we come to learn he is completely out of his depth. David Wilmot as Seamus Gallagher: Seamus carries the weight and presence of a man who was physically powerful in his younger years. Mercurial and mysterious, Seamus can turn on the charm when it serves his needs, however he can just as quickly snap into outbursts of violence when he feels he is being threatened. Ger Kelly as Teddy Seán Óg Cairns as Garda Eoin Kerri McLean as Maeve David Pearse as Frank Clodagh Mooney Duggan as Mary Pano Masti as Pablo Charlie Kelly as Fintan Peter Bankolé as Charles Amy Conroy (Holding) as Fagan Mary O’Driscol as Margaret Frank Melia as Colm Norma Sheahan as Dot Claire J Loy as Breeda Gleeson Sabine Timoteo Pom Boyd Fionnula Flanagan Áine Ní Mhuirí Charlie Kemp Pat Shortt Denis Conway John Olohan
  6. I think they would have to, but so far I don't think we've heard anything about who will or won't be featured from "Young Sheldon" on the spin-off. I think we can presume that at some point Sheldon himself will be not be around and of course George Sr. too. But all the others are unknown at this point. For all we know the spin-off might also feature sub-plots featuring Missy, Mary and the rest. But if too many of the characters are featured it will not really be a spin-off but more like "The Connors" which is really just "Roseanne" without Roseanne.
  7. Monica reminds me a bit of Kelly Dodd with the cruel comments she makes about the other women’s looks. With the likes of Jen Shah and Mary, Monica isn’t the worst, but she is too mean girl for my tastes.
  8. Sad about the cancellation. This show reminded me of Psych, which got a much better chance. I just hope the writers got the bad news early enough to write a finale without cliffhangers.
  9. let down by Friday but 4/5 and 2* for the week. Still can't believe I actually got 4, colour me shocked.
  10. I like Orange Julius but unfortunately we don't have them in the Chicago are. As a kid I used to make my own with orange juice, vanilla ice cream, 7 Up, and confectioner's sugar (i would also add a or two spoon of orange Tang if we had it). Confectioner's sugar is the secret to get the "mouth feel" of Orange Julius. Some people use frozen orange juice concentrate, but I never did that.
  11. She only said his name is Braxton a few days ago. The Bravo producers would like her to eventually return to the show after a cooling off period.
  12. I thought Fin and Pheobe decided not to get married but did not break up.
  13. Boxing out Bizzy/Sunny and Yvonne/Melissa from even being able to attempt the meat challenge was bad, but the thing that bothered me was that when Yvonne (?) asked if they could all work together, they didn't outright refuse, they suddenly just got very shifty. They either pretended they didn't hear her or acted like, "ha ha! we don't know either! don't mind us and these clues to the Pit Stop in our hands!" A simple, "I'm sorry, we wish we could help, but we can't be sure there's anyone behind us," would have at least been respectful. It could come back to bite them anyway because as it turned out, those two teams were right on their heels. The three allied teams were still on the mat when B/S and Y/M showed up. So not helping them may have affected placement, but there's virtually no time advantage and they've engendered some bad will there. As someone upthread noted Danny/Angie were third of the three, so they may start out in the last group next week anyway, and they're not likely to get any help from teams they snubbed. I liked Derek and Shalisa too and am sorry to see them gone. They did bicker a lot, but that seems to be their thing and they both let it roll right off. I very much loved them at the skateboard task: Derek: Get ready to go, honey! Shalisa: I've been ready! Derek (laughing): She didn't have to say it like that.
  14. What a stupid decision by CBS. The ratings were good - from the Deadline article: They cancelled this show to make room for dumb new shows including yet another NCIS show. Fuck CBS.
  15. On the Boise Boys HGTV show the host talked about Boise having super high prices, because of the influx of people moving from California, and other high cost areas. It's been happening for a few years pre-pandemic, but really accelerated then because of the remote worker increase. One thing I don't like about Boise is the new subdivisions look just like anywhere else, and just another over-priced suburb. People can't afford to retire in L.A. or San Francisco, or even Seattle, so they go to places like Boise, and Palm Springs for retirement homes too.
  16. I'm going to have to do some homework on the names of the new people, but so far the only ones I feel sorry for are the jug-eared warehouse manager and (maybe) the forlorn still-closeted gay guy. The stripper with deflated boobs and 2 DUI's who sees herself and jailbird 'building their house' in a dreamy future 🙄 The 'stay at home mom' who's fine with dragging her kids to prison every weekend, and putting cameras in (almost) every room so jailbird can keep watch🙄 Sorry to see that once again lots of children are being shown full-face and embroiled in these traumatic situations.
  17. Where’s Victor Tan? They bring back Lou Ferrigno Jr. because someone needs to drive Black Betty. He’s more appreciated at 9-1-1. Could care less about Agent Vasquez. But it’s nice seeing Dr. Wendy again. For Hicks/Maggie storyline, they copied it from Criminal Minds, isn’t it? It’s what happened with David Rossi. Geez Shemar, please stop saying “baby girl”. It’s overused and overrated. It painfully reminds me of that annoying, socially immature character from CM. 😣 I love Deacon but I’m truly not looking forward to next week’s episode (SNAFU). 😣
  18. I'm sure I'd look pretty spectacular, too, if I had her money.
  19. A policeman yelled, "This is the end of the line!" just before Hetty pulled the telephone cord. I thought that was pretty prophetic of Hetty's demise.
  20. Artie's disguise was one the few where he really didn't look like himself (even though he wasn't entirely himself because of the accident). Jenny Maxwell who was in this episode was murdered, along with her husband under somewhat mysterious circumstances in 1981. Next week is, I believe, the final Dr. Loveless episode. 😪 I wonder if, when the finish the season, they'll finally show the B&W episodes?
  21. The PCPD is so hapless it's probably easier for the mob to leave them alone. The only part of the Anna/Molly discussion that I thought made sense was when Anna was talking about how Sonny had become so enmeshed in PC society (in general, not in the class sense) that the town felt he was the lesser of other criminal evils, and he was able to keep out the more unsavory parts of crime. That argument has been raised before, and I think it's legit. As dumb as the mob stuff has been over the years, the show has been consistent in showing that Sonny tries to maintain some sort of discipline over other mob families. None of this excuses the idiocy of people being today years old when they realize Sonny is—gasp!—a violent mobster.
  22. That is my opinion as well. I think he looked down on Emily and thought she was not worthy of being matched with him. Why is she “nasty?” Because has had a lot of one night stands (although we don’t know how many she has had; we only know that she has enjoyed the ones she has had). She could have had safe sex and we have no reason to believe that she has STIs. And I don’t see any judgement here at all about the men who took her home (especially if she was so drunk she might not remember what she did), had sex with her and never called her again. Are they as “nasty” as she is? I agree that people have different values around sex. No problem there. But when words like “nasty” start to come into it, that’s a judgement about someone’s worth and value as a person. I do have a problem with that. So if 2 one night stands is better than 50, where is the cut off? What’s the scale. Is “zero” excellent and non-nasty; single digits are ok but start to get a little nasty when you get into the upper reaches and double digits is really nasty territory? What is really interesting to me is that Emily showed no signs of wanting to continue one night stands after she was married. She didn’t seem to want an open marriage or polyamory or anything like that. So when I wonder why this was an issue for Brennan, I’m coming from a perspective of Emily’s one night stands being something she did when she was single and something that really didn’t directly impact him. She didn’t even know him when this was what she was doing. It didn’t say anything at all about how she was going to behave in their marriage. I am surprised by that as well. Lauren seems to have more common sense than that and I thought she acted a little more immature than I would have anticipated. Plus, while I think that Orion treated her really badly, she only had about two weeks of that bad behavior and then she could have been totally free of him (his multiple offers of “friendship” and “reconciliation” notwithstanding). Her anger seems disproportionate to the length of their relationship.
  23. Glen Fleshler is playing a character named Sorrell Booker and dressed like Boss Hogg. Who the fuck thought that would even be remotely funny?
