I saw Gourmet Everyday. Same old, same old.

    Rocketman (2019)

For sure. I listened to the soundtrack on Spotify and you could really hear the pain in his voice in some of the songs.

    TCM: The Greatest Movie Channel

Hoo boy. I finished The Lion Has Wings last night. It just gets weirder. It seems we're meant to identify with Ralph Richardson's suffering because he's the guy that has to make the phone call to send the fighter planes into the air, then wait for reports of the outcome. Meanwhile, we're cutting back to the fighter pilots up in the sky doing plane-to-plane combat with the Nazis heading for England. But yeah, Ralph Richardson is the really brave one here. Oh, and he's also the hero because he had to stay up all night.

    Small Talk: Out of Genoa

You almost gave me a heart attack @jpagan05! I think Steve senses something is up and I'm going to be leaving soon on vacation. He's become much needier, always screaming if I try to leave the room. He's also started flying onto my bed and napping in the crook of my arm which he hasn't done in over a year. Or maybe he's just getting softer in his "old" age, he does have a birthday coming up, heh.
  6. Thanks for the good account of where you're coming from. I definitely get what you're saying. This right here sums it up for me. You believe there's no difference between these two things and I think the difference between them is the only thing that matters. For me, it even affects how much my arm hurts, actually. Had I been Amy and felt hurt at Jill's hamhanded comment, I would have tried to put it out of my mind while I coped with my initial grief. And after that was done, I'd have gone to her, and explained exactly why it upset me and why I thought similar things would upset others. Then I'd respond to Jill further based on how Jill responded to me. If she tried to understand what I was saying, apologized and said she'd try to remember and think twice about things like this the next time, then we'd be cool (at least until she kept on doing it). If she blew me off and showed that she truly doesn't give a shit about others' feelings, then I'd walk away from her. It's those responses that would matter to me. Not the original incident, which happened in the heat of a confusing and fraught time for everybody. The kind of time when a helluva lot of people make big errors in what they do and say. I've seen plenty of cases in which people -- including me -- have responded in massively hamhanded ways to big events. People way older than Jill and presumably way more sophisticated about the ways of the world, too, in many cases. That's a kind of mistake that I truly think anyone at any age and level of sophistication can make. I don't know if there's anyone who doesn't just respond wrongly sometimes when it's important not to -- and for me the question is always, What does the person do after the event if somebody points the problem out to them? Washing my hands of the person right then and there? Not an option, as far as I'm concerned. In my opinion, that makes me an equal contributor -- or even a bigger one -- to the problem. Now I agree that it's quite possible that Amy did start out by telling Jill how bad that post made her feel and why, and asked for an apology. And it's perfectly possible that Jill couldn't comprehend what she was asking or laughed in her face or refused to renege. We don't know this whole story. And I don't know what these people are like in real life. Jill may be a really massive jerk. It's quite possible. And if that's went down, then I'm fully on board with Amy being pissed off. (Although I'm never on board with putting cryptic nasty messages on the internet that just may be about your friends and relations. Keep that shit private, is my feeling.)
  7. As someone who was even asked as a little kid if I was wearing a wig because of how thick my hair is, I totally get that.

Did anyone see either of Alberti's new shows? I didn't, but I looked at the product lineup for Gourmet Everyday - included food, gadgets and cookware, like encroaching on David's territory.

    Rocketman (2019)

It worked really well for the directing, too. Every time he opened up about a new aspect of his life, he shed a piece of the costume. At the end, when they had him walking in, they showed sequins and feathers starting to fall off as a start. When I go tonight, I'm going to watch carefully to see just how much they followed that direction through to the end. Like, what was he discussing when he was in the robe, then saw the guy looking at him, so he pulled it tighter over his chest? I want to see just how detailed the director got with the rehab scene in it's entirety. If I remember to do so, of course, instead of getting caught up in the music and acting again.

"Brushlet," good one! Looks like soon for brushlet #2. Is Janelle's bathtub ready?

Yet, on the other hand, if a parent has to quit a job so that they can chaperone on set, maybe better to take a small percentage of the money rather than have the family be homeless.

She really tore them a new one, loved it! Better look for your next MLM, Brownies.

S.09 E.01: Nice To Marry You

Are you sure you aren't watching a clip of last season's groom, Puke? Damn it! Didn't MAFS production make it a priority that they didn't have another Kate situation this season? Heads will roll......
  15. @jenrising I LOVE this! Funny that people joking around on a message board have better ideas than people who are paid to come up with stories 🙂

    What is...In the Media?

Netflix is swapping out Jeopardy episodes on June 28. So if you haven't already rewatched the 2011 ToC that's on there now (with Roger Craig's famous back-to-back True Daily Doubles), better do it quick! I would most hope for Netflix to have BoD on, but since they've already had that one before apparently (I missed it like a dolt), it's not likely. And All Stars is probably too new. My guess is that we'll get one of the newer ToC, and probably the specialty tournaments.

    Masterchef (AU)

It was bizzaro world! Am ashamed to admit that for some of the contestants I just yell rude words at the screen! Kind of bummed that Simon is in elimination (same for Derek). I must be on team GO HOME STEPH!!!! Am beyond dubious about Anushka's 'honey joy' (ie honey coated cornflakes) working with goats cheese pannacotta! Steph's 'quenelles' looked disgusting! You have to wonder in what order they bring the rabbits up for judging - if Derek wasn't first then his deep fried ice cream was doomed! I have my fingers crossed for Steph to go home as she just annoys me!

    Survivor in Other Countries

Feegle! I am surprised with how popular Survivor is that there are not more watchers of the English speaking foreign versions, which are all better than US survivor.

    S04.E08: Nowhere to Run

Maybe the reason they all fight so much is that their clothes are so tight that there's no blood flow to their brains. And Chantal faces even more oxygen challenges, trying to get her lungs to function with all the weight of her boobs crushing her lungs. If it weren't for her low cut tops, there would be no hope for her ability to breathe.

    Season One Discussion

Yes, and no. Looking at episode 1 as an example, The Comedian, there is a man in that shot walking away from the camera as Samir exits the comedy club, but he's not blurry at all.

    Best Room Wins

I didn't realize until the end that it was just a really stupid shelf 12 feet off the ground! I had thought there was a hallway or balcony back there! We had a shelf up near the high ceiling in our master bath that I thought was incredibly stupid (we redid the bathroom eventually). What on earth do you do with that dust catcher? I mean the first thought is to put plants up there, but then who's going to water them??? And why did the Elle Decor editor trade-in his three day stubble for a 70s porn star mustache????

    In Memoriam: Celebrity Deaths

No offense taken, but don't let that ruin the movies for you. Lots of good people worked on them too. Besides, it is possible for you to enjoy a person's work while disliking the person. Like I said before, his movies were beautiful.
