I'm not sure if it's clear in the book (I'm about ½ way through the audiobook) but I read somewhere that it would have been common for someone like Blackthorne who knew multiple languages and traveled extensively to be fluent in / write in Latin. I think in the Middle Ages Latin was the common written language between all the Romance languages.

Is it just me or are the tasks kind of boring this season? I find myself not following very closely and losing interest more than usual. And the alliance isn’t helping matters.

Roshanda is right, they need to make their own way forward. Clarence playing pool, and is playing with fire claiming he doesn't need to follow Dr. Now's program, and can do his own program. That's not the road to success. I'm afraid Clarence is going to eat through his surgery. Brandie may be the worst, because she doesn't care about anything but her own pleasure. I don't think she'll ever get back on her diet, ever.

I only watch this show and now that the tumor show is right after this, I watch that one. But nothing else on TLC...

I thought old Blackthorne was weird because the real one stayed in Japan for the remainder of his life. I didn't realize it was the dream until he let the cross drop into the lake. I didn't think Toranaga burned the ship. Well played. They got me. Was that the end? Toranaga just says what's going to happen? I take the point that Toranaga wasn't going to win on the battlefield with lesser numbers, but I would have wanted to see that played out with the regents. I also would have liked a little more on how the heir pulled back at the end. I said earlier that the heir liked Toranaga so I can get it. I would have just liked a little more. I would have liked a glimpse into how Blackthorne actually spent his years in Japan. The Japans.

I enjoyed that. Hope this show comes back.
